QUILTING SERVICES

20190809_195653.jpg

I offer machine quilting on a long-arm Innova machine. I have over a decade of sewing and quilting experience. I have been offering professional long-arm quilting since 2015.

I currently offer three types of quilting:

  1. ALL-OVER STIPPLE/MEANDER - a basic stippling / meandering quilting over the entire quilt top regardless of quilt design

  2. ALL-OVER PANTOGRAPH - computer automated edge-to-edge pantograph quilting

  3. BASTING FOR HAND QUILTERS - quilt top is based with long, easy to remove stitches; extremely helpful when quilting by hand or when quilting on a domestic home sewing machine

QUILTING GUIDELINES

Please follow these guidelines for preparing a quilt top for quilting services. Quilt tops should lay FLAT. Rippled or uneven borders and uneven fullness in the body of the quilt cannot be quilted out and can cause puckers in the quilting.

Tops should be SQUARE. Uneven quilts may roll onto the quilting frame improperly, impeding quilting or causing it to look crooked. Uneven quilt tops will produce uneven quilts, this can be corrected if wished after quilting by squaring up the finished quilt. This however can make your borders or blocks seem uneven.

Please PRESS all seams during construction of your quilt top to allow for easier quilting. Excess bulk in the seams can cause skipped stiches.

As you piece your quilt top cut EXCESS THREADS off of the surface of the quilt top to prevent them from getting caught in the machine foot. Also remember that any dark threads that you leave unclipped from the back of the quilt top may show through lighter colored fabrics.

Backings should be SEAMED, FLAT, SQUARED, and PRESSED. All backings should be at least 3 inches larger on all four sides to allow for attachment to the quilting frame (6 inches extra length and 6 inches extra with total). If you do not seam your backing there will be a $10 charge to seam it.

PRICING

  • ALL-OVER STIPPLE - 2 cents per square inch

  • ALL-OVER PANTOGRAPH - priced based on the complexity and density of the quilting design

    • LIGHT TO MEDIUM DENSITY - 2 cents a square inch

    • MEDIUM TO HEAVY DENSITY - 2.5 cents a square inch

  • BASTING - 1 cent a square inch

  • FEE TO SEAM BACKING FABRIC - $10 per seam

To estimate your quilting cost - Multiply the quilt top length by its width, this will give you the square inches of the quilt top. Take that total and multiply it by .02 for all-over stipple or light to medium density pantograph; .025 for medium to heavy density quilting; or .01 for basting. This will give you the approximate cost of quilting (pre tax).
